The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) has begun inviting application from aspiring bank clerks for the Common Written Examination (CWE-IV) 2014.

The exam which will help fill vacancies in over 19 participating banks is scheduled to held tentatively in December 2014.

The 19 participating banks are: Allahabad Bank, Corporation Bank, Syndicate Bank, Andhra Bank, Dena Bank, UCO Bank, Bank of Baroda, Indian Bank, Union Bank of India, Bank of India, Indian Overseas Bank, United Bank of India, Bank of Maharashtra, Oriental Bank of Commerce, Vijaya Bank, Canara Bank, Punjab National Bank, Central Bank of India and Punjab and Sind Bank.

The first IBPS Clerk Exam (CWE-I) in 2011 saw over 40 lakh candidates apply.

With only graduates being allowed to apply from CWE-II in 2012 the numbers dropped down signficantly, but there were still 12 lakh candidates fighting it out for the over 30000 vacant posts in 2013.

This year too the exams are expected to fill over 30000 vacancies.

If last year's numbers are anything to go by, this gives candidates a one in 40 chance of qualifying.

So, buck up and prepare well.
