Panaji, Nov 27 (IBNS) Bowing to pressures by the Right Wing Hindu Groups, organizers of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) suspended screening of documentary made by controversial painter M F Hussain.
The documentary 'Through the eyes of a painter', produced-directed and written by the late painter in 1967 was scheduled for screening, today evening, as a tribute to him.
The Hindu Janajagruti Samiti, which has filed nearly 1,250 complaints against the controversial painter across the country, had severely opposed the screening and threatened to demonstrate at the venue.
The HJS website www.hindujagruti,org has displayed Hussain's painting images 'so that Hindu brethren become aware of the blasphemy done against their Religion and Nation.'
