ILPA organises leather fashion show

Indian Leather Products Association (ILPA) in association with apparel brand Rene organized a fashion show in the city on Saturday where the models showcased leather products on the ramp.

The fashion show was titled as 'Leather on the Ramp'.

Present on the occasion was Bengali actress Rachana Banerjee.

Speaking about the aim of the fashion show, Arjun Kulkarni, Chairman, Trade Development Committee, ILPA, said: "The Fashion Show is the annual event of ILPA that intends to position the city on the global map as the hub for fashionable leather goods."

"Kolkata is the largest producer of leather goods in the country and many of the leather fashion products that are crafted in this part of the country are exported all around the world," he added.

The glamorous models who walked on the ramp were Kavita Kharayat, Deepti Gujral, Anchal Oberoi, Mashoom, Smitha Rao, Parul Duggal, Shruti Agarwal, Satarupa, Jessica Gomes, Neeraj and Ananda.

The models sizzled the ramp sporting the outfits designed by Farheen Bushra Rahman, Pooja Doshi and Komal Sood.

Leather products that were showcased on the ramp included ladies bags, handbags, clutches, hobo handbags, unisex bags, men's bags, briefcases, portfolios, holdalls and belts.

Shankar Dawn, President, ILPA, said: "At present, the leather goods community of Bengal are catering to all fashion brands in Europe and are embarked on a journey to create more and more designer stuff."

"ILPA fashion show is the only fashion event which showcases leather goods in junction with the designer garments," he added.
