Imran Khan protests US drone attacks

Pakistan's cricketer turned politician Imran Khan, who spearheads the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, and large number of his supporters started a peace march to South Waziristan to protest against US drone attacks in the area.

Khan and other top leaders of PTI, including former Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, started the march in a motorcade that included around 130 vehicles from Islamabad on Saturday.

According to reports, as many as 30 anti-drone campaigners from the US are participating in the march.



"Just leaving Islamabad. Thousands of people in cars jeeps and buses coming along. This is already huge and many many more waiting on the way," Khan tweeted while starting the two-day journey.

"By defying the government and going ahead with the march we have already succeeded. People joining by the thousand. huge caravan on the move," he said.

"We have put the issue of drone attacks centre stage globally. Never before has global media focused so much on it," Khan said.

Khan said crowds of ´enthusiastic people´ greeted them ´all along the way´.
