Ordos, China, Sept 11 (IBNS): In a cracking match that went down to the wares India defeated arch rival Pakistan by 4-2 margin in the penalty shoot out to lift the Asian Champions Trophy hockey tournament, here on Sunday.
Both the sides remained goal less in the normal time and in the extra time of the game and dragged the match to the penalty shoot out to settle the results of the high voltage final match of the inaugural tournament.
For India Rajpal Singh, Danish Mujtaba, Yuvraj Walmiki and Sarvanjit Singh scored goals in the penalty shoot out.
Muhammad Rizwan and Waseem Ahmed scored the two goals in the penalty shoot out for Pakistan but it was a charismatic performance on the goal by Indian keeper S Sreejesh that helped India win the title at the end of the day.
Pakistan had earned seven penalty corners in the match but failed to penetrate the Indian defence that performed well in this crucial final encounter on Sunday.
The men in blue on the other hand could gain only one penalty corner in the match and they failed to convert int into a goal.
