India defeated arch rival Pakistan by eight wickets in a high-voltage Super Eights stage clash of the T20 World Cup at the R Premadasa Stadium here on Sunday.
Chasing 129 runs for victory, India reached the target in 17 overs by losing two wickets.
Virat Kohli remained the top scorer for India with his 78 runs from 61 deliveries. He hit nine boundaries and two sixes and remained not out till the end.
Shahid Afridi and Raza Hasan picked up one wicket each for Pakistan.
Earlier, Pakistan elected to bat first and elected to bat first.
Pakistan were all out at 128 runs in 19.4 overs.
Shoaib Malik remained the top scorer for the side with his 28 runs.
Lakshmipathy Balaji scalped three wickets for India.
