New Delhi, Jan 25 (IBNS) External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid on Friday said India is working on getting power supply from Bhutan.

Addressing the media after his meeting with King of Bhutan Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, Khurshid said: "... today essentially we are working closely on power plants in Bhutan that will supply power to our country and indeed are very fast becoming the mainstay of their economy other than tourism."

"The level of prosperity over the years because of this is, I am very pleased to say, noticeably going up, and I look forward to a very useful friendship."

On the meeting, he said: "We have an ongoing very good visit of His Majesty the King of Bhutan. I have just had a very fruitful meeting with him and I have to now go and brief the Prime Minister. He will be calling on the Prime Minister now in the next half an hour, and then we will proceed from there to delegation-level talks."

Speaking on Indo-Bhutan relationship, Khurshid said: "It is a very important relationship, as you know, between us and Bhutan. I visited there ten days ago. We are in the process of working with them on their Eleventh Plan and consultations are on. As you know, we are intrinsically linked with Bhutan in many ways."
