New Delhi, June 18 (IBNS) The annual consumer price inflation based on all India general Consumer Price Index (CPI) for May on point to point basis is 10.36%, according to government data released on Monday.
The corresponding inflation rates for rural and urban areas are 9.57% and 11.52, it said.
Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Statistics and Programme Implementation Srikant Kumar Jena announced the release of the monthly provisional Consumer Price Index (CPI) on Base 2010=100 along with annual inflation rates for May 2012, compiled by the Central Statistics Office.
All India provisional General (all groups) CPI numbers of May 2012 for rural, urban and combined are 119.1, 117.1 and 118.2 respectively.
Provisional annual inflation rate based on all India general CPI (Combined) for May 2012 on point to point basis (May 2012 over May 2011) is 10.36% .The corresponding inflation rates for rural and urban areas are 9.57% and 11.52%.
Provisional annual inflation rates of May 2012 for rural, urban and combined in respect of 'food and beverages' are 10.16%, 11.29% and 10.66% respectively.
