India test-fires nuclear-capable Dhanush missile

-on Sea (Odisha), Nov.23 (ANI): India on Saturday successfully test-fired its nuclear-capable Dhanush ballistic missile.

The missile was test-fired from a naval ship off the Odisha coast.

The Director of the Integrated Test Range, Chandipur, Dr. K.V. Prasad, said, the naval variant of the surface-to-surface Dhanush was test fired this morning from a location manned by the Strategic Force Command in the Bay of Bengal.

The single-stage and liquid propelled Dhanush has already been inducted into the armed services.

It is one of the five missiles developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) under the Integrated Guided Missile Development Programme (IGMDP).

The missile is capable of carrying conventional and nuclear payload of between 500 to 1,000 kilograms, and can hit both land and sea-based targets. (ANI)
