An Indian woman, who was adopted by an American family thirty years ago, is facing deportation back to her motherland.
30-year -old Kairi Abha Shepherd is facing deportation after a court upheld the right of the US federal government to remove her from the country.
She was adopted by an American woman in 1982 from an orphanage in Kolkata. Kairi was three months old at that time.
However, Kairi´s adoptive mother passed away after suffering from cancer when she was only eight years old.
Kairi faced more troubles when she was 17 as she was suffering from drug habit.
She was also convicted of felony for cheque forgery.
Kairi is facing deportation after a US court judge said the court did not have the jurisdiction to ascertain the legal status of the Indian girl.
The US administration said it wants to deport Kairi after they realized that her neutralization documents were incomplete.
