New Delhi: With some of India's famous names confirming their participation, the non-profit organization TED is confident that its November conference at Mysore will bring forth exciting and new ideas worth spreading.

"I am impressed with the diversity and the incredible stories that the speakers and attendees are bringing to TEDIndia. The response to TED in India has surpassed our expectations," Chris Anderson, TED curator and host at the organization's first interaction with the Indian media in New Delhi on Thursday, said.

TED is a small nonprofit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. Started as a four-day conference in California 25 years ago, TED has grown to support those world-changing ideas with multiple initiatives.

TED speakers have included Bill Gates, Al Gore, Jane Goodall, Elizabeth Gilbert, Sir Richard Branson, Nandan Nilekani, Philippe Starck, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Isabel Allende and UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown.

The annual TED Conference takes place in Long Beach, California; TEDGlobal is held each year in Oxford, UK, and this November, the TEDIndia Conference will be held in Mysore, India.

"India has a great potential and we are looking for some great ideas from this region and we are hoping a positive result ahead," Anderson said.
