Martin Luther King's struggle for the emancipation of blacks in the US was based on the Gandhian philosophy of non-violence. He called ahimsa a revolutionary concept. King and Gandhi were influenced by
the same authors like Henry Thoreau.

Like Gandhi, King, too, was assassinated by a gunman. They shared a spiritual beginning. King wanted to become a minister and it was at the Crozer Theological seminary in Pennsylvania that he became familiar with Mahatma Gandhi.
