June 3: Opposition leaders begin an agitation against induction of tainted ministers in the UPA government. They zeroed in on six ministers, including Railways Minister Lalu Prasad, who have been charged in various cases.

July 2: Four Governors are dismissed for their affiliation to the RSS. Parliament stalled for several days over the sacking of Kidar Nath Sahani of Goa, Kailashpati Mishra of Gujarat, Babu Parmanand of Haryana and Vishnu Kant Shastri of Uttar Pradesh.
