competitors, Amazon.com, Yahoo!, and Lycos tried to knock eBay from

eBay, Whitman, then an executive with Hasbro, declined. But she reconsidered
and within a couple of years turned the auction site into the most
successful pure Internet company while making herself the first woman
Internet billionaire. Whitman has made eBay a truly global marketplace.
