IPL 6: Kings XI Punjab beat Delhi

Kings XI Punjab defeated Delhi Daredevils by seven runs in the 67th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) at Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium here on Thursday.

Punjab bowlers restricted Delhi to 164 for seven after its batsmen posted 171 for four on the scoreboard.

Ben Rohrer remained the top scorer for Delhi with his 49 off 29 balls. He smashed four boundaries and three sixes in his knock.

Delhi made a poor start to the run chase as they lost the wickets of Unmukt Chand (7), Irfan Pathan (1) and David Warner (0) with just 12 runs on the scoreboard.

Virender Sehwag (30) and Mahela Jayawardene (39) added 49 runs on the scoreboard before Delhi lost Sehwag´s wicket in the 11th over of the innings.

Mahela then shared a 50-run stand with Rohrer before the Delhi skipper fell to Sandeep Sharma.

Sharma remained the pick of the Punjab bowlers as he took three wickets by giving away 23 runs.

Piyush Chawla gave a blow to Delhi by picking up the wicket Rohrer in the first ball of the last over.

Delhi´s Morne Morkel (13) slammed two sixes in the last over but failed to reach the target.

Earlier, Punjab scored 171 for four in 20 overs.

Shaun Marsh remained the top scorer for Punjab with his 45. Adam Gilchrist (42) and David Miller (44*) contributed with their willows.

Ashish Nehra took two wickets for Delhi.
