Mumbai Indians defeated Kinga XI Punjab by four runs in the 41st match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) at Wankhede Stadium here on Monday.
Chasing 175 for victory, Punjab were all out for 170 runs.
David Miller remained the top scorer for Punjab with his 56 runs. He hit smashed one boundary and five sixes in his innings.
David Hussey (34) and Praveen Kumar (24) made some important contributions with their willows but failed to reach the target for the visitors.
Earlier, Rohit Sharma hammered an unbeaten 79 runs off 39 balls that helped Mumbai post 174 runs for three in 20 overs.
Sharma hit six boundaries and six sixes in his innings.
Sharma and Dwayne Smith (33) added 43 runs in the third wicket partnership.
Sharma along with K Pollard (20*) added 88 runs in the fourth wicket partnership.
Praveen Kumar, Piyush Chawla and Manpreet Gony picked up one wicket each.
David Hussey gave away 27 runs in the 20th over of the innings.
Sharma hammered three sixes and two boundaries in the over.
In the other match of the day, Rajasthan Royals defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by four wickets in the 40 th match of the tournament at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
Chasing, RCB´s 171 for six, Royals scored 173 for six in 19.3 overs.
