IPL 6: RCB beat KKR by 8 wickets

Bangalore, Apr 11 (IBNS) Riding on Chris Gayle's unbeaten 85 runs, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) defeated current Indian Premier League (IPL) champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by eight wickets in the twelfth match of the cash rich tournament at M Chinnaswamy Stadium here on Thursday.

Chasing 155 for victory, RCB reached 158 runs for the loss of two wickets in 17.3 overs.

Gayle hammered four boundaries and nine massive sixes and remained unbeaten on 85 runs.

RCB made a poor start to the innings and lost the wicket of Mayank Agarwal (6) in the third over of the innings.

Gayle and Virat Kohli added 63 runs in the second wicket partnership before the RCB skipper got out in the tenth over of the match at his personal score of 35.

Kohli hit four boundaries and two sixes in his 27-ball innings before L Balaj picked up his wicket.

AB de Villiers and Gayle then added 83 runs in the third wicket partnership and ensured the home side easily reach the target in 17.2 overs.

Gayle hammered a massive six to reach the target.

Balaji and Ryan McLaren picked up one wicket each for KKR.

Earlier, KKR scored 154 runs for the loss of eight wickets in 20 overs.

Skipper Gautam Gambhir remained the top scorer for KKR with his 59 runs off 46 balls. he hit seven boundaries and a six in the innings.
