IPL 6: Sunrisers defeat Pune by 22 runs

Sunrisers Hyderabad defeated Pune Warriors by 22 runs in their opening match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) at Rajiv Gandhi International here on Friday.

Chasing, 127 for victory, Pune were all out 104 runs in 18.5 overs.

Robin Uthappa remained the top scorer for Pune with his 24 runs off 22 balls. He hit two boundaries and a six in his innings.

South African fast bowler Dale Steyn and spinner Amit Mishra picked up three wickets each while Thisara Perera scalped two wickets in the match for Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Steyn bowled brilliantly and picked up three wickets in the nineteenth over to wrap up the Pune innings.

Steyn, who picked up the wickets of Bhuvneshwar Kumar (3) and Rahul Sharma (0) in two consecutive deliveries, missed the hat-trick chance on Friday.

Earlier, Sunrisers Hyderabad scored 126 runs for the loss of six wickets.

Thisara Perera remained the top scorer for Hyderabad with his 30 runs off 18 balls.
