Chennai's MA Chidambaram Stadium is expected to witness another high-voltage clash on Sunday when two contenders will step on the field to give their best shot to lift the Indian Premier League (IPL)-5 title.
MS Dhoni´s Chennai Super Kings (CSK) moved through several ups and downs this season to finally cruise to the final by putting up all-round performances in the past couple of matches to fix a date with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the final hurdle.
The current IPL winners, CSK, has dominated in the last two matches they played in the tournament, where they beat mighty Delhi Daredevils by 86 runs (second qualifier) and Sachin Tendulkar´s Mumbai Indians by 38 runs (elimination match).
Charismatic skipper MS Dhoni showed some good form with the bat as he blasted a 51 runs from 20 deliveries and remained unbeaten till the end against Mumbai Indians. KKR fans will surely want his bat to remain silent on Sunday.
CSK will also want opener Murali Vijay to score another century on Sunday night like the one he hammered on Friday against Delhi Daredevils.
Vijay scored 113 runs from 58 deliveries to give CSK another chance to lift the trophy.
CSK´s arsenal also contains other mighty batsmen like Suresh Raina, Michael Hussey, Ravindra Jadeja, Dwayne Bravo, Albie Morkel, who have the capacity to change the colour of the game at any point.
Ravichandran Ashwin, Ben Hilfenhaus, Shadab Jakati and Ravindra Jadeja will look after the bowling department of the two-time IPL winning side.
Dhoni´s charismatic captaincy and experience of leading both India and CSK in several final matches will surely add an extra advantage to the home side that is looking forward to win the tournament for the third time.
On the other hand, KKR, who reached the final of the tournament for the first time, will surely like to end the tournament on a winning note.
The team performed well this season and skipper Gautam Gambhir performed brilliantly both as a batsman and as a captain of the side.
Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan´ side is expected to give the mighty CSK a steep challenge specially if their batsmen click on Sunday.
Jacques Kallis, Manoj Tiwary, Shakib Al Hasan, Yusuf Pathan, Debabrata Das, Laxmi Shukla look promising enough to drag the match to their favour with a brilliant knock.
Gambhir will expect his ´mystery bowler´ Sunil Narine to produce some magic with his fingers on Sunday and pick up some crucial wickets in the game.
The bowling department of the Kolkata side will also depend a lot on Rajat Bhatia and Brett Lee.
Cricket-crazy India has witnessed 75 matches in this long season so far but Sunday is surely going to be special as two strong contenders will compete hard for the final glory.
Last two encounters:
