The Gujarat High Court on Monday dismissed senior IPS officer PP Pandey's plea that sought quashing of a First Information Report (FIR) filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) against him in connection with the 2004 Ishrat Jhan fake encounter case.

Pandey was Joint Commissioner Police when Ishrat was killed.

Ishrat was gunned down by Gujarat Police along with Javed Ghulam Sheikh alias Pranesh Kumar Pillai, Amjad Ali alias Rajkumar Akbar Ali Rana and Jisan Johar Abdul Gani in Ahmedabad on June 15, 2004.

The Gujarat Police had claimed that the four were on a mission to kill Chief Minister Narendra Modi.
