Chennai: “I feel this award is a recognition for the Indians in the Gulf,” said journalist Soman Baby, one of the recipients of this year’s Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award.

Speaking to Sify.com, Soman, who is the Associate Editor of The Gulf Daily News in Bahrain, said journalists should have social responsibilities and involve in social activities.

He said, “There are five million Indians working in the Gulf, a majority of them as ordinary workers. They are facing lots of issues. I have tried to highlight these issues through my writings.”
