In an endeavour to provide impetus to education and build friendly relations with the locals, police recently distributed books among the students here.
Speaking to reporters, Shamsher Hussain, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Poonch, said, "We keep contributing, wherever we think that there is a need for our contribution. We had come to know that the library in the higher secondary school for girls and boys is not set up, so we decided to contribute books in both the schools, which would help the students. We have distributed several books of different subjects such as reference books and books for competitive exams so that children can confidently sit in competitive exams."
Hussain added that increase in literacy level would help the region to develop and prosper.
"Jammu and Kashmir police feels an obligation to contribute towards making a better society in the region," he said. (ANI)
