Pro-Telengana protesters pelted stones at the convoy of YSR Congress Party president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy's, as he headed towards Nizamabad from Hyderabad to stage his 48- hour hunger-strike from Tuesday at the Armoor in Nizamabad district.
Reddy is going to fast to highlight the problems faced by the farmers in Andhra Pradesh.
Pro-Telangana parties-, Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC)- are likely to disrupt the programme, said sources.
They have decided to oppose Reddy till he elaborates his stand on the separate statehood issue.
However, he had opposed the statehood demand in the past.
Heavy police arrangements have been made in the area for Reddy´s fast.
Earlier, Reddy had faced stiff opposition from the pro-Telangana parties during the 'Odarpu yatra' in May 2010.
He cancelled the tour after a clash at Mahbubabad.
