Veteran lawyer and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Ram Jethmalani on Sunday said there is no one in the party who has the courage to take action against him for his recent controversial comments and statements.
Daring the BJP leadership to take disciplinary action against him, Jethmalani said: "I have expressed my views and I am very happy that many people have appreciated this. If anyone takes action against me, then I welcome that."
Reiterating his demand of announcing Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi as the party prime ministerial candidate for the 2014 elections, he said that the latter was the best-qualified person for the job.
Earlier today, BJP spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain had said that appropriate action would be taken at the right time against Jethmalani
A day after BJP opposed the government decision to appoint Ranjit Sinha as new CBI director, Jethmalani embarrassed the party as he wrote to BJP president Nitin Gadkari questioning the party's stand and publicly praised the government and the Prime Minister for the step.
Jethmalani was the first to publicly demand Gadkari's resignation for the alleged financial wrongdoings of the Purti Group he was linked with and thereafter his statement regarding Lord Ram in recent past has also invited criticism from various sections within and outside the party. (ANI)
