Veteran lawyer and Rajya Sabha MP, Ram Jethmalani on Sunday released three books based on terrorism, penned by a senior editor of news channel ABP News, Jitendra Dixit here.
Jethmalani released the books along with Mumbai Police Commissioner Satyapal Singh and executive editor of Hindi tabloid `Saamna' Prem Shukla at the Press Club of Mumbai on Sunday.
All the three books based on the subject of terrorism were released in the presence of a large audience comprising of media persons, students of journalism, social activists, foreign consulate officers, lawyers and police officers.
Popular news anchor of ABP News channel Charul Malik hosted the event.
Of the three books launched the first written in Hindi is titled ´Ve 59 Ghante-Ek Reporter Ka Halafnama.´ In this book Dixit penned his experiences and observations of the 3-day-long Mumbai terror attack which began on Nov 26, 2008.
The second book titled ´Fighting Terror: Indian & American Approaches On Counter Terrorism´ is written in English and compares the Indian and American strategies for combating terrorism besides examining whether the US model of counter-terrorism is viable in the Indian context or not.
The third book is in Marathi and is ´Ladha Dahsatvadashi: Bharat Ani America.´ It is a translation of Dixit's English book.
Speaking at the event Jethmalani congratulated Dixit for his Hindi book which he was able to read fully prior to the publication.
He said, "I am pleased to release this book. It is a great book. Jitendra should keep on writing such books. An eye witness account written by a journalist in book form is commendable. People working for the media, police & administration may find it useful."
Jethmalani also read a small note on Wahabi terrorism at the event.
Police Commissioner Satyapal Singh said that Dixit's book would be like a guide for media people to cover similar attacks in future.
He said, "Television journalism today has become very hazardous. Journalists have to face various hardships and inconveniences while discharging their duties and this has been aptly described in Jitendra's book."
Singh has written the preface of the Hindi book.
Prem Shukla said that a book like ´Ve 59 Ghante,´ was necessary for media persons. "Such a book is like a guide for budding journalists."
Dixit informed that apart from the print editions, all the 3 books would soon be available online as well.
