Former US President Jimmy Carter has said that presidential candidate Mitt Romney's '47 percent' video, in which he disparaged 47 percent of Americans as dependent on government, marked 'the turning point' in the Republican's campaign.

"It was probably the single most important factor in the whole election, what James did reveal," Carter said.

In the video, Romney told donors at a fundraiser in Florida that 47 percent of Americans were "dependent upon the government, believe that they are victims" and would never vote for him, Politico reports.

The video was unearthed by Carter's own grandson James, who found it online and connected its owner to David Corn at Mother Jones, the report added. (ANI)
