New Delhi: A Republic TV journalist has resigned complaining fear, intimidation and harassment by her bosses at the channel.

Shweta Kothari, who was a senior correspondent with the channel founded by Arnab Goswami, said that she faced constant harassment on suspicion that she was a plant by the Congress MP, Shashi Tharoor. Tharoor has filed a defamation case against Republic and Goswami.

She posted her statement on Twitter and Facebook stating that how her editor had been harassing her on suspicion that she was a mole inside the organisation.

She wrote, “On 30th August 2017, my reporting manager (an editor who I would not like to name) came up to me and said that Arnab Goswami suspects me of being a mole planted by Shashi Tharoor in the organisation, the reason being, Mt Tharoor follows me on Twitter.”

She said the same editor had once accused her of flirting with a police officer after she conducted a sting operation involving a cop in Delhi. She even threatened Kothari to make her conversation with the officer public and ‘destroy my career.”

Sources in Republic said that the editor in question in Prema Sridevi, who’s been leading investigations unit for the channel.

She wrote, “This isn’t the first time that this sort of treatment has been meted out to me. On 30th May, 2017, I had done a sting operation on a sitting SHO for a story. Later at around 7 PM, the editor called me up and accused of flirting with the SHO. When I protested, she threatened to make the conversation public and destroy my career.”

Shashi Tharoor responded immediately on Twitter, claiming that while he doesn't employ moles he does "respect serious journalists."
