Businesswoman Dame Vivienne Westwood visited WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange at the Ecuadorian Embassy in London, as fears grew over his health.

The fashion designer wore a T-shirt she closed her recent London Show with, bearing the words: 'I am Julian Assange'.

She is a long-standing supporter of the Australian, but it was the first time she had visited him at the Ecuadorian Embassy.

According to the Telegraph, Assange, who has been granted political asylum by the government of Ecuador, is seeking to avoid extradition to Sweden, where he is wanted for questioning over claims of sex offences.

He fears being sent to the United States over the activities of his whistle-blowing website.

Westwood's visit comes just a fortnight after Lady Gaga visited Assange at the embassy, the report said.

Ecuador has said that it was worried about the health of Assange and has asked Britain to guarantee him safe passage from its London Embassy to hospital if he needs medical treatment.

The country has asked the British Foreign Office for a document that would enable Assange to enter hospital safely if necessary and return to the embassy with refugee status, it added. (ANI)
