Rome, Feb 17 (IANS) Juventus Football Club had demanded equal treatment on the pitch, claiming the referees have failed to award penalties in their favour in the current Italian Serie A season.

The club in a statement backed the comments from coach Antonio Conte and midfielder Andrea Pirlo, who, along with Pavel Nedved, have been vocal in complaining about the failure of referees to award the Bianconeri penalty kicks.

The outcry followed the latest penalty appeals during Juventus' game against Parma, with Conte claiming match officials are afraid to award spot kicks to the club.

"Juventus Football Club confirms and supports the statements by Coach Antonio Conte, director Pavel Nedved and Andrea Pirlo after the game," the statement said.

"The club hopes that equal treatment, which they are pursuing and will pursue at every ground, is always applied in accordance with the rules of the game of football," it added.
