New Delhi: Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) leader Kanimozhi on Saturday met Congress supremo Sonia Gandhi here and 'thanked' her for supporting her candidature in the Rajya Sabha polls from Tamil Nadu.
Kanimozhi on Wednesday visited the Congress office in Chennai to thank the party leaders for supporting her candidature.
She presented shawls to Congress leaders.
Kanimozhi on Thursday claimed victory in the Rajya Sabha elections.
The daughter of DMK supremo M Karunanidhi was elected to the Upper House of the Indian Parliament for the second time as her current term is scheduled to end next month.
Kanimozhi won the polls due to the support of 23 MLAs from her party, 5 MLAs from its former ally, the Congress, and two each from the Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam and Puthiya Tamizhagam.
Despite their parting of ways in the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) at the centre, the Congress earlier said it would ensure the re-election of Kanimozhi to the Rajya Sabha for a second term.
Kanimozhi had on June 15 filed nomination papers for the Rajya Sabha polls.
