Islamabad, Aug 21 (IANS) At least 10 people were killed in separate incidents of violence in Pakistan's port city of Karachi Tuesday.

Two bodies were recovered from the downtown Karachi's north Nazimabad area in afternoon. Police said the dead were from Balochistan province. They had been missing for months, reported Xinhua citing local media.

Another man, belonging to a religious group, was killed when an unidentified gunman opened fire at him in another area of the city. Two more people were killed in firing in Orangi town.

In a separate incident, two people were killed in the city's Gulshan-e-Bahar area when some unidentified gunmen sprayed bullets at a shop.

Moreover, three dead bodies were recovered from two separate areas. The victims, who were tortured to death, had been abducted a few days ago from the city, police said.

According to a report released by the South Asia Terrorism Portal (SATP) last Sunday, at least 3,828 fatalities had been recorded in Karachi since Jan 1, 2011. The dead included 3,288 civilians, 274 security personnel and 266 terrorists or criminals.

A report released by the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan earlier in July said a total of 1,726 people were killed in Karachi during the first half of 2013. Most of the people were victims of targeted killings, sectarian violence and other violent incidents.
