Yoga guru Baba Ramdev has compared the hanging of Mohammad Ajmal Kasab, lone surviving terrorist of the 26/11 Mumbai attack in 2008, with the execution of freedom fighter Bhagat Singh.
He said the government hanged Kasab in order to regain the confidence of people.
"The government hanged him in the way in which Bhagat Singh was hanged. They made him a hero" Ramdev said.
"Kasab should have been hanged in public," Ramdev said.
Reacting to Ramdev´s remarks, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi told media: "One should be cautious while making comparisons. I feel that this comparison was not in good taste."
Gandhian social activist Anna Hazare earlier said Kasab should have been hanged in ´public´.
Ending a four-year-long judicial process, Kasab was hanged on Wednesday morning, only four days before the fourth anniversary of the audacious strike from Pakistan-based terror groups that left 166 people dead and over 300 wounded.
