Activist-turned-politician Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday was elected as the National Convenor of his newly-formed Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and said that he will spend the next one year touring India to garner support for his outfit.

Kejriwal said he will spend a year trying to convince people on why they should support his party and also "expose" the two leading parties, the ruling Congress and the main Opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

At the first meeting of the 23-member National Executive Committee of the party after its launch on Saturday, Pankaj Gupta was elected national secretary while Krishna Kant will be its treasurer.

Raising the pitch of their fight against the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government over their core issue of graft, Kejriwal announced his party with a name that is seen as a dig at the popular "aam aadmi" (common man) motif of the ruling party, reports said.
