The newly launched Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has postponed its first rally, which was scheduled for Monday.
Party member Kumar Vishwas told ANI that the rally that was scheduled to begin form Raj Ghat and head towards Bhagat Singh Park, had to be postponed due to Muharram.
"The local police has informed us that a religious procession to mark Muharram is scheduled to march at the same rout and time, and therefore, the local administration wanted the route vacant. So, we immediately took the decision to postpone our rally," said Kumar Vishwas.
Asked when the rally would be held, Kumar Vishwas said: "We will discuss with our young party members and then a suitable date will be fixed later."
The party, however, is holding its first official meeting this evening in New Delhi where key strategies are likely to be discussed.
Civil rights activist-turned politician Arvind Kejriwal had formally announced the creation of the Aam Aadmi Party on Saturday. (ANI)
