Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) official mouthpiece 'Kamal Sandesh' on Tuesday made bitter allegations against social activist turned politician Arvind Kejriwal and said he was connected to anti-national forces.
After ruining the Anna Andolan and in pursuit of its naked ambition Team Kejriwal is indulging in the conspiracy to create suspicion about 'democracy' and by doing so it is definitely playing in the hands of those who have no attachment either to India or Bharat Mata. The Union Government should seriously investigate the matter," read the editorial of ´Kamal Sandesh´.
"The main game of Kejriwal may be related to funding. The thing to be known is whether the funds belong to India or to the forces which want to weaken the country," it said.
The editorial alleged that Kejriwal has taken a ´supari´ (contract) from foreign sources against India and asked the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government to investigate the matter.
"The Manmohan Singh government should find out as to who has given the 'supari' to Kejriwal," Kejriwal said.
The mouthpiece defended party president Nitin Gadkari and said: "The day Shri Gadkari assumed the office of BJP National President he always talked about his work which he carried through cooperative movement and the need to strengthen rural economy through alternative sources of energy."
Pertinently, Gadkari has been accused of using shell companies to fund his business and of receiving investments from contractors in Maharashtra.
Kejriwal accused Gadkari of having ties with Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) in Maharashtra to boost his business interests in Vidarbha region at the cost of poor farmers.
Slamming Kejriwal on the issue, the editorial of ´Kamal Sandesh´ said: "What was new in Kejriwal's revelations? Whatever Kejriwal said about Nitinji was immediately dismissed by Union Minister Shri Sharad Pawar...It was a big slap on the face of Kejriwal. At the same time by demanding an inquiry on himself Nitinji exposed the unethical and conspiratorial design of Kejriwal."
Meanwhile, Gadkari has cancelled his visit to poll-bound Himachal Pradesh on Tuesday for campaigning.
Gadkari has decided to stay in Nagpur and prepare to defend himself against the alleged vilification campaign commenced against him by certain section of media, media reports said.
The BJP president earlier threatened to file civil and criminal cases against media houses for defaming him.
