"This puja, let your love blossom", was the message from Tollywood actors Indraneil Sengupta and Koel Mullick on Tuesday as they spoke extensively on their latest screen outing, Doshhomi, that centres on love blooming during puja.
Directed by debutant director Suman Maitra, the film is being promoted with the Durga Puja fervour in mind.
The lead pair of the movie assembled at the Cinenine office, the production house of the same to give a glimpse of this much awaited entertainer of the year. Suman Maitra who joined the duo, chatted about the sizzling chemistry shared between this first-time pair.
Doshhomi is a movie that features Durga Puja in its full spirit. It mirrors the tale of two childhood buddies, Avi and Tuli, and how their relation develops during the five days of festivity.
The film is a first time for all three of them. It is the first time that Indraneil and Koel have been paired together and been directed by Suman Maitra, who has donned the director's hat for the very first time as well.
"I play Avi, who has born and brought up in North Kolkata, and is in love with Tuli (Koel's character). Here, I have danced and romanced, like a typical commercial hero. I am very excited about the character as well the subject as it tries to capture the essence of Bengali's most celebrated festival and what happens during those five days to these two people" said Indraneil Sengupta.
Tollywood leading lady of commercial cinema, Koel Mullick sounded pretty excited about her role too.
"I play Tuli who returns to her home in North Kolkata from US during the Puja and how the equation between Avi and Tuli changes in those five days of the celebration is what the picture is all about. Almost every Bengali has a story of his or her own centering on the Puja and that is where this movie clicks.
"It tries to depict those nuances of this celebration. So I am very keen to see the audience's reaction to this" replied Koel on being asked about her character and the storyline of the film," said Koel.
The movie is being directed by first time director Suman Maitra who has earlier assisted film maker Vishal Bardwaj in movies such as Makdee and Maqbool.
He sounded anxious, excited and energized at the same time.
"This is the first time that Indraneil and Koel have been cast opposite each other. Durga Puja has been shown on celluloid many times but my film has Puja as the backdrop and the tale of two individuals revolves around it" said the captain of the ship.
