City based young and aspiring street style footballers on Friday battled it out at the 'Red Bull Street Style 2013' Kolkata qualifiers here at the Dalhousie Institute.
The winners now move on to the national finals of ´Red Bull Street Style 2013´ to be held at in Malad, Mumbai on July 27 where they will compete with winners from Delhi and Chennai.
20 freestylers performed extraordinary tricks with the football, at the city qualifiers of competition.
In a head-to-head battle, each participant performed for 20 seconds before passing the ball to his fellow participant.
They were judged by freestyle footballers Yan Law, Abhishek Anand and Sambo Mukherjee on variety, control, technique and style.
The rules of the game were simple: 1 ball, 2 players and 3 minutes.
After 3 hours of performances Krishna Limbu, Siddharth Thapa, Chettanaya Deshpande and Puneet Dhundela were declared the winners of the Kolkata qualifiers.
Yan Law said, "I am thrilled to see such potential in these kids! Red Bull Street Style is a perfect platform for budding talent to showcase showmanship and talent! These guys today have showcased some impressive moves and maneuvers and I am glad to witness it firsthand."
The world´s premier free styling competition- Red Bull Street Style is currently in the fourth edition of the competition in India.
The final winner will be selected by Kotaro Tokuda - 'Tokura', 2012 Red Bull Street Style World Champion.
The India finalist along with 5 most promising freestyle ballers will also get a chance to train with Tokura at a master class at Kick in Powai, Mumbai from July, 28 - 30.
The national winner will represent India in the Red Bull Street Style World Final in September 2013, in Japan.
