Kolkata to get a glimpse of EURO-2012 Trophy

Kolkata's date with soccer fever continues as the city will host the official UEFA EURO 2012 Trophy in February.

Carlsberg India announced Kolkata as one of the winners for the 'Vote to get the Trophy to your city' campaign.

The campaign was launched across 8 cities in January, encouraging fans to vote for their city and get a chance to host the trophy.

Out of the eight participating cities, Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata received maximum votes and will be hosting the official UEFA EURO 2012 Trophy.

Soccer fans in the city can get a glimpse of the trophy on Feb 26 at South City Mall.

Announcing the winning cities of the campaign, Subodh Marwah, Marketing Director, Carlsberg India said, "We are excited by the response to 'Vote to get the trophy to your city' campaign from fans across the nation."

"Football enthusiasts battled it out to host the prestigious UEFA EURO 2012Trophy in their city and we are pleased to further our engagement with them through the trophy event and various other programs which will follow," Marwah said.



During the next couple of months Carlsberg India will be announcing some amazing programs giving football fans across India an opportunity to experience the UEFA EURO magic.

This year, the tournament will be held for the first time in Eastern Europe - in the exciting growth markets of Poland and Ukraine from 8th June - 1st July.

Carlsberg is one of the longest standing sponsors of the European Football Championships, having first started in 1988, and is Official Partner to UEFA EURO 2012.

The brand has a long heritage of supporting football through major international sponsorships of national teams and international tournaments.

Starting in the 1970's, Carlsberg was the first commercial sponsor of the Danish national team and national league.

The Denmark sponsorship continues today, along with partnerships with the national teams of England, Ireland and
Serbia.

In club football, Carlsberg has wide ranging partnerships throughout Europe and beyond, including a long-running association with Liverpool FC, a recently announced deal with Arsenal, plus Tottenham Hotspur (England), FC Copenhagen, OB-Odense (Denmark), Hamburg SV, Hertha Berlin, FC St. Pauli (Germany), FC Porto (Portugal)and many more.
