The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday said the law would take its own course after the court summons Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi for his comment against the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).
A court in Bhiwandi has asked Rahul to be present during the hearing of the case on October 07 for claiming that the RSS assassinated Mahatma Gandhi.
"Law will take its own course in this matter. His statement regarding the RSS was definitely objectionable," said BJP spokesperson Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi.
The RSS moved court after the Rahul's during election campaign in March.
Defending Rahul Gandhi, the Congress Party said it would reply to summon on Gandhi's behalf.
"Rahul said the RSS ideology was responsible for assassination of Mahatma Gandhi. It is not a secret. If summon has been served as a part of judicial process, our legal experts would reply to it on the behalf of Rahul Gandhi," said Congress spokesperson Shakeel Ahmed.
Communist Party of India (CPI) leader Atul Kumar Anjan claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government would burn related files to erase history.
"Narendra Modi is going to burn the file, which is with the interior minister, related to assassination of Mahatma Gandhi which also documents then cabinet meeting details. It is one of the 1,500 files. They want to erase history. I want to tell the Bhiwandi court that I am also of the opinion that the RSS was behind the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi," Anjan said.
