Lawyers of the Kashmir Bar Association took out a protest march in Srinagar amid strict curfew, demanding mortal remains of 2001 Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru, who was hanged and buried at Tihar Central Jail in Delhi on January 9.

"We are demanding the mortal remains of his (Afzal) body. This is our prime demand at this juncture," said Bashir Ahmad, a lawyer.

Meanwhile, Naeem Akhtar, leader of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), said that locals are facing the brunt, as curfew remains imposed in the valley for the sixth day since February 9.

"Every home in Kashmir has been a jail for the last six days. This is not happening anywhere in the world, this cannot happen anywhere in the world and at least in the world's largest democracy," said Akhtar

Curfew was enforced in the entire valley as a precautionary measure from the day of execution to prevent any unpleasant incident.

The execution took place on Saturday after the president rejected a mercy petition from Afzal Guru. (ANI)
