New Delhi: Left wing students are staging a protest outside Delhi University's Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC) here on Wednesday against Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi.
Scores of students, who have gathered outside the SRCC here, are raising slogans of 'Narendra Modi Go Away'. The protesting students here say that they are against Gujarat's development model.
The police have reached the protesting venue and are baton-charging the protestors. They have also imposed Section 144 in the area.
Meanwhile, members of the BJP-backed National Democratic Teachers' Front (NDTF) have gathered here to welcome Modi and raising slogans in praise of the Gujarat Chief Minister.
The Gujarat Chief Minister, who met Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh earlier in the day, is scheduled to speak at a conclave organised by SRCC in a short while from now. He is expected to talk on 'Emerging Business Models' in the global scenario.
The Gujarat Chief Minister's visit to the national capital assumes significance in the wake of growing clamour in the BJP that he should be named as the party's 2014 prime ministerial candidate.
