No Khel Ratna this year, Arjuna Award for Ashwin
The Arjuna Awards selection committee, headed by World Cup winning cricket captain Kapil Dev, couldn't find a suitable candidate for the prestigious Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna, the highest sports honour, and nominated cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin and pistol shooter Heena Sidhu, along with 13 others, for the Arjuna Awards.Eight names, including that of discus throwers Vikas Gowda, Krishna Poonia, shuttler P.V. Sindhu and golfer Jeev Milkha Singh, were initially recommended for the Khel Ratna.
A 32-year-old Indian was shot dead today by an unidentified gunman in Nepal's southern Dhanusha district.
Subash Goit hailing from Khajauli, Madhubani district of Bihar received a bullet in his chest and died on his way to Janakpur Zonal Hospital.
He was attacked by the gunman, who opened fire at him at around 11 am.

'Indian Internet users to surpass US by the end of 2014'
Indian Internet users will surpass the number in the US by the end of this year and around 500 million people will be online by 2018, Rajan Anandan, managing director, Google India said on Tuesday."Even at the current growth rate, we will have 500 million Indians on the Internet by 2018. By the end of this year, India will become larger than the US in terms of number of Internet users. By 2018, India will have twice the number of Internet users as the US does. Almost half the country will be connected through the Internet," he said.

Shah likely to announce new team of BJP office bearers soon
After the ratification of his appointment as BJP President, Amit Shah is all set to announce his new team of office bearers.
Party sources tonight said the all-new team under Shah could be unveiled in a day or two, ahead of crucial Assembly elections in the states of Haryana, Maharashtra, Jharkhand and Jammu and Kashmir.
Indications are that Shah's new team will have a lot of
young faces as well as women.
Modi arrives in Ladakh
Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrives here Tuesday on his maiden visit to inaugurate two hydro-power projects in the Ladakh region and a 330 km Leh-Srinagar transmission line.
The transmission line will connect the Ladakh region with the country's northern grid and ultimately solve the electricity woes of the energy starved Leh and Kargil districts.
The prime minister will inaugurate the Chutak hydro-electric power project in Kargil and Nimoo Bazgo project in Leh district.
On his arrival here around 10 a.m. today (Tuesday), state governor, N.N.Vohra and the chief minister, Omar Abdullah are scheduled to receive the Prime Minister.
Actor Robin Williams dead at 63 from apparent suicide
Oscar-winning actor and comedian Robin Williams was found dead at age 63 on Monday from an apparent suicide at his home in Northern California, authorities said.
Hollywood celebrities and many others who knew him paid tribute to Williams:
His wife Susan Schneider said in a statement: "This morning, I lost my husband and my best friend, while the world lost one of its most beloved artists and beautiful human beings. I am utterly heartbroken."
Sonia Gandhi to visit Kerala today
Congress president Sonia Gandhi will reach Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesday on a short visit during which she will address a meeting of leaders and office bearers of the party.
This will be her first visit to the state since the Lok Sabha polls in which the Congress had managed to win eight of the 16 seats it contested in Kerala even as it was routed in the rest of the country. Its allies had won all the four seats they contested.
