Counting begins in Manipur amid security. 40 para military companies deployed at different counting halls across the state.

Two exit polls ahead of counting to decide who will form the next government in Manipur ended up throwing contrasting pictures.

In the 60-member assembly, The India TV-C Voter poll predicted BJP winning between 25-31 seats, the Congress winning between 17-23 seats and Others winning between 9-15 seats.
 
The India Today Axis poll meanwhile gave the BJP between 16-22 seats, Congress between 30-36 seats and Others between 6-11 seats.

Overall, 84% people had exercised their franchise in unprecedented voting in the state that voted on March 4, 2017. 

Okram Ibobi Singh of the Congress is the incumbent Chief Minister and he is gunning for a fourth consecutive term.
