Macedonia edge past Serbia in World Cup qualifier

Skopje (Macedonia), Oct 17 (IANS) Macedonia edged Serbia 1-0 in the European Zone Football World Cup qualifier here.

Macedonian forward Agim Ibraimi scored from a penalty kick in the 59th minute Tuesday after Serbian defender Nenad Tomovic earned a red card for fouling Ferhan Hasani in the penalty area, reports Xinhua.

With 10 players Serbia couldn't do much in the rest of the game even though its attackers had two good positions for an equaliser.

Belgium kept the leading position in Group A with ten points same as runners-up Croatia. Serbia are third with four points as same as Macedonia on the fourth place before Wales (3) and Scotland (2).
