Madras Music Season is one of the major events hosted in Chennai. Almost all the sabhas in the city hold the music festival in the Tamil month of Margazhi, starting mid December and ending mid January.

Hundreds of Carnatic concerts, both by veterans and upcoming artistes, take place in the season. Carnatic musicians and music lovers from different parts of the country and abroad throng the city during the season.

The Music Season, started in 1927 to mark the opening of the Madras Music Academy, used to be a traditional month-long Carnatic music festival consisting of Carnatic music concerts, harikathas, lecture demonstrations and award/title ceremonies. However, over the years it has also diversified into dance and drama, as well as non-Carnatic art forms.

The Music Season has grown over the years, and has been described as one of the world's largest cultural events.
