Kolkata: Accusing West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of pursuing vindictive politics against her critics, Congress MP Deepa Dasmunsi Monday said the people of the state will give a befitting reply to Banerjee in the upcoming panchayat polls.
She was reacting to news reports that Banerjee had ordered a CID probe into the disappearance of Biman Bhattacharjee, a well-known theatre personality, 20 years ago. Bhattacharjee's family accuses Deepa Dasmunsi for his disappearance.
"It is nothing but vindictive politics. She is trying to hit her detractors below the belt. Whoever is criticising her policies is either being harassed or being put behind bars. We are ready for everything. We will always fight for the truth," Deepa Dasmunsi said.
Deepa Dasmunsi, wife of former Congress leader and union minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi, has been at the forefront along with other state Congress leaders in criticising the Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress government over various policies and issues.
Bhattacharjee's brother Bidhan had blamed Deepa Dasmunsi for his brother's disappearance and had approached Banerjee with a plea of reopening the case.
