Birmingham, Jan 14 (IBNS) The British Police on Saturday said they arrested a man in connection to the murder of an Indian origin man and his English wife.
Detectives investigating the murder of the Birmingham couple have arrested a man in connection with their deaths.
Officers working as part of Operation Tiler executed a warrant at a house in Birmingham Friday night. Once inside the premises, officers arrested a 24-year-old man as part of their investigation.
The man has been taken to a police station in the West Midlands where he is being questioned of suspicion of murder.
Police launched the major investigation on Wednesday after the bodies of Carole and Avtar Kolar were found inside their home address in Handsworth Wood by their son Jason, who is a serving officer with West Midlands Police.
Forensic post mortem examinations have been conducted, which confirmed that both Mr and Mrs Kolar died as a result of blunt force trauma to the head. Both had been struck a number of times.
Two of the couple´s children - Michelle Kirwan and Avtar Kolar - spoke at a media conference on Thursday of their heartbreak and devastation. They continue to be supported by family liaison officers as the investigation progresses.
Independent crime-fighting charity Crimestoppers has put up a reward of up to 10,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the deaths.
Detective Superintendent Richard Baker, who is leading the murder investigation, said:"This was a horrendous attack. We continue to follow a number of lines of enquiry and we thank those who have called us so far. We encourage anyone with information to speak to us no matter how insignificant they feel the detail is."
"The reward of up to 10,000 is available to anyone providing information to Crimestoppers, which leads to the arrest and conviction of the persons responsible for this crime," said the West Midlands Police in a statement.
"Rewards can only be claimed by calling Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. Rewards cannot be claimed if giving information via the online form," said the statement.
