Man dies in NY gym fight; officers used Tasers

Police say a burly 32-year-old man who went on a rampage in an upstate New York gym died after going into cardiac arrest when officers repeatedly shocked him with Tasers.

Colonie Police Chief Steven Heider says Chad Brothers of Troy punched another patron at Gold's Gym in the Albany suburb, toppled exercise machines and destroyed office equipment before being confronted by a female officer who knocked him down with a Taser jolt just before 6:30 a.m. Monday.

Heider says that while the officer was trying to cuff Brothers, he stood up with her on his back, was shocked again and then got hold of the device, apparently triggering another jolt. Two other officers used their Tasers in stun mode at least twice.

Brothers died shortly after arriving at a hospital.
