New Delhi: A 40-year-old man was killed when he slipped and fell on the tracks while trying to board a moving train at Nizamuddin Railway Station here, police said on Thursday.

The incident took place at around 9.30 last night and the deceased has been identified as Bhagwan.

He was trying to board the speeding Rajdhani Express to Indore when the incident took place.

A senior police official said the man suffered multiple injuries and was bleeding profusely. He was rushed to AIIMS Trauma Centre were he succumbed to injuries.

Reacting to the incident, Railway Minister Dinesh Trivedi said it was "saddening".

"How this incident occurred and what exactly happened, I am not quiet aware of it. But whatever happened is quite sad. Whatever minimum facilities are required it should be there and I believe it should be there at stations," he said.

However, he said, everybody has to move within the boundaries of discipline.

"We have seen that India lacks discipline for instance at level crossing. Level crossings are usually closed. Many a times the guard at the level crossing is beaten up to open the gates. Within 15 days, two such instances have taken place. So everywhere I feel there is a lack of discipline," he said.
