Addressing his first election rally in the state of Himachal Pradesh here on Sunday, hours after reshuffling his cabinet and including 22 more ministers, Prime Minister Singh pulled up the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for not doing enough for the people of the state, and for not keeping its promises.
Extolling the Nehru-Gandhi family's association with the state of Himachal Pradesh, Dr. Singh said: "In the last eight years, whatever development work has taken place here is all due to the financial support provided by the UPA Government."
"The BJP Government in Himachal Pradesh has not done any development work in the last five years," he added.
Singh asserted that if the Congress is elected again in Himachal Pradesh, it will do everything within its power to bring the state back on the track of progress and development.
He also said that those ministers and leaders tainted by corruption could never give Himachal a peaceful atmosphere.
BJP president L.K.Advani and BSP chief Mayawati were also scheduled to address rallies in the state. (ANI)
